warning: fangirl alert | a rogue one rant

So I watched Rogue One (FINALLY!!) um…last week I think it was? No way…actually yeah, last Saturday. Heck, this blog post has been long overdue. 

this is basically going to be a huge rant of all the things that were awesome (which was the entire thing), and all the tears that i shed (which were like, way too many), and basically just a huge recommendation that you all need to go watch it RIGHT NOW. 

here goes.

Rogue One things (in no particular order) that give the world joy

-bohdi rook. does any more really need to be said? this hecking lil taco is such a blessing. he’s been abused, forced to do things he didn’t want to do, tortured and beaten and on the run, being hunted by the bad guys, he’s literally all alone in the whole freakin’ universe and then he HAS FRIENDS AND THEY SUPPORT HIM AND HE’S PART OF SOMETHING SO MUCH BIGGER THAN HIMSELF AND HE FINALLY HAS A PURPOSE AND THEN HE DIES AND I AM NOT OKAY

-cassian’s face after he’s survived a blaster wound plus a 20 foot fall and climbed up the shaft basically with a broken back, snuck up behind jyn and shot krennic. and it’s such a look of relief because he got him and jyn is okay, and they’re going to die, but in that split second jyn is okay and he loves her and dude your crush is showing

-and okay, K2’s sass is honestly the most amazing thing because i know we can universally agree that C3-PO was a fail and his dialogue just grates on your nerves, but finally you have a sassy droid that takes no crap and he’s like, cassian's best friend and he’s so loyal and basically the parental figure of the whole group  

-and we know K2’s sass is life, but can we just talk about vader for a moment? Darth-don’t-choke-on-your-aspirations-Vader? this killed me, i live off of puns like these

-and cassian and jyn are your typical battle couple and that’s totally okay because they’re so adorable and in love and they don’t even know, and they’re like fighting for each other and ahhhh

-diego luna literally created acting, his smoulder gets me every time

-chirrut and baze are such space-bros, they’re like two old grandpas fighting a galactic war

-and that time when cassian is yelling at jyn about how she can stand seeing the imperial flag in power, and she’s like “it’s not a problem if you don’t look up” and it’s like yes! bad things happen because good people do nothing, we gotta rise up! take a stand! but idk, i just really liked it


-“rebellions are built on hope” <— this is literally the best! and jyn repeats it to the council after cassian says it because she realizes that it’s true and it means something to her and finally after her whole life of fighting she’s got something to fight for

 

-“you’re not the only one who lost everything” <— GIVE ME BACKSTORY I NEED BACKSTORY  

-baze calling jyn ‘little sister’ is just awww

-cassian being such a gent and not murdering jyn’s dad right away because he’s having second thoughts bout this whole rebellion-thing and he actually knows it’s wrong and he has honour

-the first time cassian sees jyn fighting and he’s like dude, this girl is awesome and she’s heckin’ badass and nobody’s gonna tell her what to do like DENG

-how cassian is literally always there for jyn and in their last moments he found time to reassure her like ‘your father would be proud of you’ he is too pure for this world

-THAT GRIN WHEN CASSIAN BRINGS THE REBELS TO JYN HE’S SO PROUD OF HIMSELF AND HE SUPPORTS HER AND THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR IN A FUTURE PARTNER OKAY 

-cassian honestly has so much trauma and he killed that one spy and if you don’t think that affected him then you’re wrong! like, this guy’s been doing bad stuff his whole life because he thinks it was for a right cause, but he’s always had that nagging thought that something’s wrong and i know what that’s like and i just want him to be happy

-bodhi when he sees the bomb and he knows he’s going to die and you can literally see his thoughts racing like, “this is it, this is the end. but it’s going to be okay because it’s so much more than just me, and let’s pray to God that jyn got the message through. it’s okay now, i’ve done enough” he’s such a selfless cinnamon roll

-K2’S DEATH IS NOT O K A Y

-NONE OF THEM ARE, I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS







-cassian and jyn are always looking at each other like they’re an anchor to stay in one piece and it’s just so adorable 

-AND CASSIAN AND JYN TOTALLY DIDN’T TRUST EACH OTHER AND SHE WAS LIKE “YO, TRUST GOES BOTH WAYS, BRUH” AND THEN THEY GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND IT WAS LIKE A LIGHTBULB WENT ON AND THEY’RE FRIENDS, AND THEY’VE NEVER HAD FRIENDS, AND THIS IS! SO! IMPORTANT! BECAUSE TRUST IS FUNDAMENTALLY CRUCIAL TO ANY RELATIONSHIP AND I LOVE HOW THEY MADE IT A BIG DEAL BECAUSE IT IS! [edit: i know how hard caps are to read, but no regrets)

-the rebels are such a team and they’re dying for each other but honestly cassian andor more or less kidnapped them all

-bodhi rook again, i’m sorry but this dude gets me every time. like, awkward? check. stubbornly persistent? check. don’t wanna do the thing? uh-huh. but gonna do the heckin’ thin anyway? YES SIR. he just makes space so much prettier better

-and cassian andor again because this lil space dude has an un-ashamed mexican accent and this makes me so happy because representation! is! so! important! especially in films, and stars wars is making me so proud ^~^

-and jyn erso's character development makes me so chuffing happy because it’s perfect
she goes from only wanting to take care of herself and trying to stay alive to rescuing that little girl and sacrificing her life for others. bless. 

that’s it for now. there is honestly so much in this movie that just made my heart full, but this is what i got. thanks for reading this ramble, i honestly make no sense half of the time, but basically just go watch the movie and cry with me.
i know i haven’t posted anything on this blog for a while, but i have a few ideas, so we’ll see what i come up with... ;)
