Disney Princess Book Tag

happy national book week !!

i’ve decided that a book tag would be fitting, and I’ve been planning this for a while so....here goes!

[i’m the worst at intros, sorry]

I believe that this specific book tag was started by Of Stacks and Cups, but I’ve seen it in a lot of places so credits to all, I suppose

3 Princess Facts

My favourite story is Belle, because she taught me to look past and see beauty in the hidden places, also I just relate to her a lot

My worst princess is Snow White just because she’s the classic damsel in distress and she’s so helpless

The best Disney song is obviously Colours of the Wind bc you can get all dramatic and flip your hair around and be a super warrior princess

Now here goes for the questions:

Snow White—Name your favourite classic:

Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll. I haven’t read this in ages and ages, but I remember really enjoying it. Plus Lewis Carroll is amazing - I wish I knew how his mind worked. His poems and other stories are crazy inventive.
Also Peter Pan, by J.M Barrie. Barrie is my favourite classic author, his life story just really inspires me. And the story never gets old ;)

Cinderella—Name a book that kept you reading way past your bedtime:

The Little Prince by Antione de Saint-Exupéry [boy, what a name], though tbh I was sick so I wouldn’t have slept anyways, but I loved the book. It really made me think, which is something I should probably do more, so I very much appreciated it. And all the analogies and style of writing was amazing!

Aurora—Name your favourite classic romance: 

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I read the abridged version, so maybe that’s cheating, but I really enjoyed it. The movie adaptions are really good too!

Ariel—Name a book about sacrifices and fighting for your dreams:

Rogue One. If you read one of my earlier blog posts, you would know that this book gave me so much pain. So much. There were tears just...yeah. It was incredible - but no spoilers, or else I would go on and on. I felt kinda bad because I read the novel before watching the film, which technically was released first, so I gave it all away. But oh well, no regrets ;)

Belle—Name a book with a smart and independent female character:

the Harry Potter series

THAT’S RIGHT HERMIONE GRANGER - BAM THAT WOMAN INSPIRES ME

AND MCGONAGAL AND LILY AND EVERY STINKIN’ WOMAN IN THAT SERIES

also, this is so great how Emma Watson is playing both Hermione and Belle, ahhhh!!

Jasmine—Name a book with a character that challenged social conventions:

The Giver by Lois Lowry. I’ve read this book so many times, and I really loved it. The sequels and movie are great as well, definitely recommend!

Pocahontas—Name a book whose ending was a roller-coaster of emotions

The Book Thief—though, to be honest, the whole thing was a roller-coaster of emotions. Please don’t talk to me - I haven’t fully recovered. But if you’re looking for any sort of book recommendation (and i don’t care if you don’t read historical fiction) I’m telling you to go read this one.

Mulan—Name a book with a kick-butt female character:

Most people would prolly say The Hunger Games, but seeing as I have not read that.....I’m gonna go with Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordain. These books have a high rating with me, because they got my lil bro into reading, and he never picked up a book before these.

Tiana—Name a book featuring a hardworking, self-made character:

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
I. Love.

The way that he flips back and forth between words and pictures might sound annoying, but it’s actually really beautiful. I’m in love with it, the vibe is amazing. Plus the movie is wow!

Rapunzel—Name a book that features an artist:

Salt To the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. Okay, I admit, this one is a stretch, but I really wanted to get it in here. If you read this already, you might be wondering why I chose it for this one, but if you remember, the boy [Florian] was an artist, and was named after an artist, and I enjoyed it more than anything but the Book Thief. 
So. Good. (Another recommendation btw)

Merida—Name a book that features a mother/daughter relationship:

Can it be mother-son? ‘Cause then it would be A Monster Calls. I finished this just last week and it ripped my heart out. Why am I attracted to books that hurt me? It’s like a magnet or something - that’s all I ever read. But please, do yourself a favour and read this book. 

Elsa and Anna—Name a book that features a great relationship between siblings:

Chronicles of Narnia. Ahhh, this was my childhood. I still remember sitting on my front porch or around the living room couch and listening to this being read to me. Lucy Pevensie is still my favourite book heroine, and C.S Lewis is one of the best.

and I’m going to add one of my own and say: 

Moana—Name a book that features the ocean 

Life of Pi by Yann Martel because dude, i just finished it, and it’s so amazing
also based on real life, which makes it 10000000% cooler

i tag anyone who has not watched the lion king
